I have been working with and teaching mystic and shamanic practices since 1987. As a child I had many ‘psychic’ experiences, which included seeing my own face in the mirror rapidly metamorphosing into other people’s – from various cultures and races, including times long gone. In my dreams I had memories of lifetimes other than the present one and felt as if I had lived and learned much. At puberty I started receiving healing energy and messages from loved ones close to me who had died; this included grandparents, an uncle and the father of one of my best friends in elementary school.
I did well at school and my parents were always encouraging me to be a doctor or lawyer, but I knew somehow my destiny which was helping people, lay elsewhere. In high school I trained and worked part time as a nurse’s aid just to see if it was medicine because it did feel related to healing. I learned a great deal but knew it was not correct for me to devote myself to medicine. I also became quite politicized working in a hospital because I felt aware nurses did 90% of the work but were not paid nearly enough for their input. I went to Cornell to study Industrial and Labour Relations to see if I could work to redress the imbalance I perceived.
While at University my experiences of the invisible realm continued and began intensifying. In the summer breaks I felt called to Alaska to live close to the land and work in the salmon fisheries. The spirits of salmon and various nature spirits communed with me directly and it was a huge healing experience. After I graduated from Cornell University, I booked a round the world ticket to look for my true teachers. I knew I had to find the right people to help me develop these gifts. I could see and hear things many others were not perceiving. The veils were very thin for me and I need to be trained by an expert.
I started my tour in Dorset in England visiting my grandmother’s living sisters. I then visited Findhorn in Scotland and then headed to Southeast Asia. After visiting and meditating in as many Quan Yin temples as I could find, I ended my tour in Japan where I worked teaching English and studied meditation. Japan helped me enormously. Not being able to read, write or speak the language, lead me easily into the state of no-mind. I thrived by watching carefully and intuitively reading people, which felt natural from my many years of dance training. I understood and communicated silently through gesture and movement. The spirit of Japan held me like a mother holds a child and it has been one of the most beautiful and formative experiences of my life. Meditation happened to me. I am grateful to the spirit of Japan.
Eventually I joined a meditation group led by a British ex-pat called Naomi Arimura. The first moment I saw her it was a complete delightful shock. She was a total stranger yet I felt as if I had deeply known her my whole life. The spirit guide then known as White Rose, now known as Golden Cobb, was channeled by a fellow in England called Dheeren. In Tokyo we met to do Osho meditations and listen to the taped sessions of White Rose talking that had been shipped over from England. Many times as we meditated the perfume of roses would enter the room, which was quite unusual in the middle of roseless Tokyo.
In one of the sessions White Rose talked about Chernobyl. I strongly resonated with this global vision and the invitation to take responsibility for being a global citizen rather than of any one nation. This was the perspective that had been calling me.
I went to England for a week long Lyme Game group Dheeren was leading in Dorset. He asked me to quit my job in Japan and work full time with him. I said, “Yes,” and we co-founded the Lyme Mystery School, which later became known as the Laughing Rainbow Mystery School. It has been an amazing adventure. Over the years, the spirits working with us gave us numerous tools to work on ourselves and grow, all of which I employ as spirit directs.
Primarily I live in Lyme Regis, a magical place which nourishes the soul. It is a perfect hub for our planetary healing web of light. Work has taken me abroad to lead groups in other places like the States, Japan, India and Greece.
My joy is supporting people looking at their inner world through the lens of the Colour Rays, with a particular emphasis on active meditation and shamanic practice.
As far as other training and influences in my life, while in India in 1986, I took sannyas from Osho. I later encountered ‘core’ shamanism and worked with Simon Buxton and been trained to teach core shamanism by Sandra Ingerman. My courses are listed on her site (www.shamanicteachers.com). I expanded my shamanic background trance dancing with Leo Rutherford, building spirit houses with Martin Prectel, practicing deposession and curse unraveling with Betsy Bergstrom, and merging with plant spirits with Ann Drucker. Pete Bengry has initiated me into a profound relationship with the Spirit of the Drum. I have trained as a family constellation therapist with Moumina Jeffs. I have basic CPCAB certification in Person-Centered Counselling and I am a UK certified massage therapist and Reiki Master.
I have always loved dance. In the States I worked with the African dance anthropologist, Pearl Primus. I trained in modern and contemporary dance, as well as 7 years of contact improvisation, authentic movement and body-mind centering. I bring this body-based wisdom into my circles, incorporating it into channeling etheric energies through the ecstatic dance state.
My training and development continues; I am part of an alliance of shamanic teachers where we share the evolution in our practice that we receive from our spirits.
We are all constantly evolving and I am grateful to be guided by my helping spirits at this time of tremendous change upon the planet. I treasure the opportunities to share my navigating skills in this tumultuous time, with those who are thirsty.
In brightness and joy,
Chetna
